The world is buttoned up for winter,
the leaves are packed away.
They'll be dyed and pressed for springtime,
hung out some balmy, breezy day.
The nights grow dark and longer,
the trees have turned to wood.
There's barely time for what you must do,
-too late for "I'd like to" or "I should."
Keep your house well-provisioned,
stay warm, mark the date,
think of far-off sunny summer,
tend your fires, dream, and wait.
