AT THE INTERSECTION OF LINCOLN RD &
THE GRAND CONCOURSE

for Karen Thomsen & her many years of service to L-S

Where Karen came from
(and this I know for a fact),
a Danish was nothing more than a pastry
that you had with “cawfee,” while reading
the NY Post’s Bronx Home Editon,

so how she got to Denmark I don’t
                  know, and then to Sudbury,
more mystery, but I do know
that if things had worked out a little
differently, it would have been the
Grand Concourse for both of us,
Saturday night movies at the Paradise,
and the “Kitchen Sink” at Jahn’s
Ice Cream Parlor,

 instead she had visions
        about Visions,
            about revolution in Cuba
(Hasta la victoria siempre! Vive Che!),
and about taking high school Spanish

out into the streets, so farewell
    daughter of most Holy
        Borough, eternal
            “tanks” for bringing a bit
of the Bronx to L-S,
          that “bit” called
                 keeping it real,
            and for
                   remaining,
     always,
         true to who you are.
