SEVEN VAN CORTLANDT PLACE

Forget Russia,
         USA,
paltry superpower
playthings.
Real threat behemoth,
    only Progress so-called.

"We've got lift-off!", as latest
missile,
irresistible,
      no bomb shelter possible,
arches
       lonely white plume trajectory
          over Lordly Hudson,
   careens toward Croton.

Computer brain locks on target,
 no sport here
 (plus or minus 2 feet--count
on it).

"Collateral damage" will be
         slight,
as this thing hurtles into
     world's largest, most magnificent
      blackberry bush,
destroyed completely.

Developer bought land.  Will improve.
House to be built on mounds of
tiny, pulverized berry
               seeds and skins.

Will it be as sweet and cool and
 delicious
                       in
"low-profile post-attack environment"?
