Before there could be a Johnny Madden or a Timmy Madden,
before there could be an Ethan or Jamie Schechter, before
Andy or Steven Shea could appear,
Brigid Walsh simply had to leave Kerry's Caherciveen to find
Patrick Shea, who, one rainy Killorglin night, decided to
cross a great ocean, and then Joseph Mongeau had
to survive the Civil War to fall in love with Mary Maillot after
both had left Quebec to make a life in Thorndike's mills all this
had to happen, not one particle less, but even this
was not enough to light the stars in
one family's firmament.
