TAKING IT TOO FAR
Cross-dressing? Hey, no problem,
as long as Water Row was going
from solid green to flashy fall
threads, but now the Row has gone
spectral on us, and it's Halloween
every day by the beaver kill, dead
trees standing about like great
gapped teeth against searing sunset
skies, sinister swamps that
stagnate and sing to us, and those
ominous nests hung high in skeletal
trees turned mizzenmasts of pirate
ships, that general sense of forboding
conveyed to commuters who, careening
past each morning, wonder, "What
will it to be today, Trick-Or-Treat?"
